GRAPHIC DESIGNER | ARTIST
This lovely site was created by me- Dani, to display my design and art work. I consider myself not only a graphic designer but also an artist. I find myself using my eye for design when I am shooting photography or creating an artist book and using different fine art techniques in my design work. For me these two identities go hand and hand.
My work has been featured most recently in the Visual Arts and Design Showcase in Jesse Hall at the University of Missouri. Also on She Explores, in EPIC Mizzou's literary magazine, in the Undergraduate Juried Exhibition in George Caleb Bingham Gallery and in Art After Dark at the Museum of Art and Archaeology at the University of Missouri.
When I am not loving everything art and design I enjoy getting lost in natural spaces by hiking or cycling. I draw a ton of inspiration from nature. What fascinated me most is the details; the patterns found made by veins in leaves, the textures of tree bark, or designs created in a bundle of wild flowers. If these descriptions aren't painting a picture for you my photography will do the trick.
On the other end of the spectrum I am also heavily inspired by created spaces, also seen in my photography. Similarly to what interest me in nature, architecture grabs my attention in the patterns, textures and design.
I also enjoy getting lost in literature. Whether it's a great fiction book that allows me to escape reality for a bit, an insightful look into creating, or a blog post of someone who seems to have it all together. I love reading!
To end, without leaving too awkwardly, here are some last random bits: Opal is my middle name, I dropped my last name for artistic purposes and because it seemed as though no one, including myself could pronounce it properly. I am a feminist! Yay, equality for all!! I love social media and believe it has so much more potential. I would much rather skip small talk and move into deep discussion with anyone.
I hope you enjoyed my rambling and my work!
